The client

Motability is the leading car scheme for disabled people in the UK. A national charity, their objective is to help disabled people with their personal mobility.

The Motability scheme enables disabled people to get mobile by exchanging their mobility allowance to lease a new car, scooter or powered wheelchair. They currently have over 650,000 customers in the UK.


The brief

Motability were seeking to update their organisational values after a review revealed that many employees found them difficult to recall.

After devising a new set of values internally, Ingenious was asked to work with Motability to design iconography that could be used across internal collateral ensuring the updated values were understood by staff.

Ingenious is extremely professional and efficient in delivering great design and managing expectations, particularly around turnaround timescales.

They keep us informed and to date have produced some excellent design concepts and appear to really understand who we are as an organisation, as demonstrated in the values work.

Communications Executive

The results

Ingenious created a set of icons for Motability that were a key visual aid to staff, helping them recall each of the charity’s new values.

These icons were designed using colours from their brand, representing the friendly internal culture while also reflecting the professionalism that is required when seen by external stakeholders.

The iconography is now on display throughout Motability’s building, has been placed on their intranet system and printed on items such as mugs and mouse mats, ensuring they are regularly seen by employees at all levels, thus reinforcing the values throughout the workforce.
