Internal branding + Internal communications + Event branding
Established in 1750, Finlays are global producers of tea and other beverages. A leading supplier of tea, coffee and botanical extracts to the world’s beverage brand owners, they are a family-run and traditional yet innovative business, with a focus on sustainability, fair trade and the future of the beverage industry.
To create an identity for the Finlays Innovation brand to be used internally across communications globally, giving it a universal look and feel, and facilitating adoption of an innovation culture across key areas of the business.
There were three parts to the brief:
- To create an identity for the Innovation brand within Finlays
- Associated imagery for the Five Pillars of Finlays’ Innovation strategy
- Associated identity for SEED, the ‘Innovation Forum’
All three elements needed to work together to form a cohesive brand with potential to be used as separate entities for five key areas of the business: Agricultural Science, Process Research, Nutritional Science, Analytical Science and Sensory and Applications.

Ingenious created a beautiful new logo for the Innovation brand, incorporating individual icons for each of the Five Pillars within the main logo and using the leaf design and colours from the Finlays brand.
We also designed a stylish ‘seed head’ logo for the SEED Innovation Forum, a global community established by, but extending beyond Finlays, to share knowledge and innovation with the industry as a whole.
Our designs are to be used across all Finlays Innovation communications globally including online, intranet, email, presentations and marketing, as well as for workshops and invitations to the SEED annual conference.
